What do the World Bank, Xerox, The American Heart Association and NASA have in common besides success? Corporate storytelling, that’s what!
Executives from these companies know that people don’t connect with facts and statistics, much less remember them. That’s why storytelling is now part of their organisational strategy.
On 24th November 2009, Sensei Learning and Performance will host a unique training event in Northern Ireland – a conference on Storytelling, Business and Innovation. This conference will introduce you to one of biggest business trends of our time.
Some of Northern Ireland’s most innovative speakers – Allen Baird, Liz Weir and Colin Nesbitt – will walk you through a fast-paced and wide-ranging agenda.
Our aim is to provide participants with a view of this subject from many angles; each session will include multiple speakers, presentation styles and topics.
Session 1 – The Concept of Business Storytelling
In this opening session, the speakers will focus on the ‘what’ of storytelling. They will show the place of storytelling in the modern workplace environment and explain its status as major organisational trend. Background will be provided on the basic pattern of all stories and why our brains make us respond to them so deeply.
• Storytelling and Your Future • Storytelling and Your Business • Storytelling and Your Brain • Storytelling and Your Journey
Session 2 – The Skills of Business Storytelling
Moving on to the ‘how’ of storytelling, this section will provide participants with the tools of the trade. Storytelling is the basic form of human communication. Participants will be led in exercises designed to aid them in constructing their own stories. We will focus on the place of stories in the art of influence, and the sorts of stories executives, managers and entrepreneurs need to master.
• Storytelling and Communication • Storytelling and Persuasion • Storytelling and Creativity • Storytelling and Your Presentation Toolkit
Session 3 – Storytelling in the Marketplace
The economic climate in today’s marketplace is tough. Our strategies need to be smart, creative, lean. This is ‘where’ stories can help us boost resilience, beat competitors, and build our brand.
• Storytelling and the Present Economic Challange • Storytelling and Your Competition • Storytelling and Your Brand • Storytelling and Smart Marketing
Session 4 – The Storytelling Organisation
Storytelling is not just for individuals; it is for the organisation 'who' tells stories to share knowledge and facilitate change within. But it must also story-listen to the tales spun daily by its customers, stakeholders, competitors and staff... and then adapt to survive and thrive!
• Storytelling and the Smart Business • Storytelling and the Listening Organisation • Storytelling and Leadership Mistakes • Storytelling and the Need For Change
There will be opportunity for networking and engagement across all sectors and industries.
Ticket Price includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
Limited (free) parking available in grounds of Clifton House.
