Hi All,
I'm a Java developer and I want to start programming for mobile devices. I don't know much about about Android yet but your link to the Android site is helping.
I usually code using Netbeans but I also use Eclipse when required. Looks like Eclipse is the way to go for Android.
Anyway I've lots to learn and this looks like a good place to start!

Hi All
Am about to do a phone upgrade - currently with T-mobile - would like to go with an android device - but had hoped there was a next generation device to the G1 available?

Well that is the beauty of Android, that your not tied to any app development program - you can even launch your own market or website you host the install files - android let's you install pretty much anything.

It of course does have some (minor) downsides in that there is no quality control - it is really up to the developer to ensure their app is well designed for the mobile.

I'm hoping to run a class in June in Ediinburgh about developing for the platform that will cover some of this so I'll be putting up some news about it soon.
