The World Is Your Playground

For discussing, planning and conspiring about Alternate Reality Games. ARGs are a new form of multi-media gaming mixing theatre, art, technology and gameplay. Part of the excitement is that the story plays out in the players' day-to-day lives.

Okay, well I'm a glasgow folk, but hey, a trip through to edinburgh suits me fine :) It's a wee way off, but I'm thinking 9th December? Reason: a couple of manic weeks... anyone going to the future media conference next week?

@Simon Good idea. I'm in Edinburgh, and could make most nights given some warning.

After running around in that Vodafone Liveguy ARG(of sorts) I'm very keen to chat about the idea.

Thing is I love virtual chats - great to blast down opinions and flare up discussion, but I do feel that sometimes us lot could probably benefit from a show of faces and a few drinks on eve to chat about stuff like ARGs. Particularly keen to get those from different sides of the industry there and see what a collaborative effort could do to iron out some of the ARG creases? Anyone up for it?

I love the concept of rabbit holes and hiding clues in different media.
Could be a way of forcing people to play my game lol
They have to escape the dungeon in solundria to get the next clue
oh joy!

Ok, lets do it.

@Stuart
I agree.
It is still early days for the genre. A bit like the asteroids and pong days of computer games, and we're still waiting for those breakthrough Lemmings/Doom/Wii sports moments. And like computer games, I think the ARG field will split into sub-genres.
I'm confident the true potential will be realised (I hope to be part of it!), though the results may not be called ARGs.

Really interestiung presentation Daniel - still feel there is a real gulf between the vanguard of ARG evangelists and their true potential.
