Anyone know a good (preferably Scottish) Social Enterprise funding resource for a light, crunchy charity fundraising app?

.. oh, other than the Social Innovation Camp that is.

Johanna, the Business Gateway can do handholding through that process, but contacting them and working with them means you're on the radar as you grow, opening doors to other funding available to those they know about. Worth thinking about.

Morning Johanna. I agree with Richard, this can be done in a day using an "off the shelf" shell company if you need it quick smart. Let me know if you want any background or further info, happy to help you progress if you like. jp

Hi Johanna, Hope I'm not being too simple, but it might be worth becoming limited - it's not very difficult - and if that's your only obstacle, it might be worth it. Go to Oswalds.co.uk who are quick and can give you a company pret a porter (rather than a solicitor who will give you the same, or talk you over to the couture section like those nice assistants at Harvey Nics) Alternatively ask Scottish Enterprise if you need more pros and cons.

Cheers.

Myself and Andy McDonald, a PHD researcher at the Centre for Advanced Textiles (CAT) at the Glasgow School of Art, recently submitted an application to the Scottish Funding Council's Innovation Scheme as part of their initiative that seeks to enable collaborations between SMEs and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The project we pitched was right on target, however the application was turned down as I am a Sole Trader and not a Limited Company registered with Companies House – despite being VAT registered and having been established for 3 years.

Anyone got any ideas of other places we could apply for funding? Or if there are any loopholes in the system which would allow us to get around this barrier?

It really is a cracker of a project and we are keen to get it up and running, so any wee gems of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Jo.

There's an excellent website here which has an extensive listing of all the available loans, grants and funding support for any given sector. Worth a look!

Just a quick reminder that there is a funding deadline fast approaching for all kinds of Scottish Arts Council Funds:

I'd like to draw your attention to the Music Funds:
For Individuals:
Creating New Music
Recording
For Organisations:
Participation, Education & Outreach
Creating New Music
Recording
YMI: Informal Sector Large Grants

The links above will also lead you to our fast-track (no deadline, year-round) funds

For Mobile Application Developers have a look at Vodafone Betavine Initiative. £25K available for that winning app. http://www.betavine.net/bvportal/competition/view.html?id=ff8080811f1f3dbb011f3721070438d1
