For what it's worth, the foundations of the stuff you are teaching are important and time in the constraints of academic years is always going to be tight. However, I'd be dismayed if your students weren't taking the initiative and learning how to construct iPhone apps in their own time, just as any games outfit has had to do this past while.

We have been looking at iPhone Apps as a possible student project/future employment area. It's hard to buy-in at the Uni level as we are so general-focussed. We get people asking for graduates, but can't take the isk easily of making the kids code in the obscurantist Objective C. Interesting that we have recently opted to add Python to our teaching in C++, C Sharp, Java and Flash, but not Apple's dev platform. I love Apple (everyone in my house has a MacBook as it ensures bliss when i get home, rather than 'dad, my PC's broken!') but it hasn't formed up into a real game dev area with money to be made. As MCV said this week, it's the forgotten paltform. YMMV (to reduce the flame wars from the pointy-beardie ones ...)

Is this fund still open for applications. If not is it going to run again.

Will you be offering a similar fund for Android based developers - I think you should as its far more in keeping with the public service ethos behind 4ip.

We are going to be running a call to action relatively soon on Android, but we're also looking at other devices and platforms. Watch this space!
