@Alisdair - I'm less bothered about other platforms. The fragmentation of other platforms means there's few other platforms that have the same penetration - 34 million-odd devices all capable of running the same OS.
I was speaking to Apple recently about this and there's huge interest outside of the "Plain Ol iFart App" market. And they certainly were of the opinion that it's a platform and not a "phone".

I attended the Apple Developers Workshop held at Edinburgh University the other week and noted that Apple have not changed the exchange rate on their App store since it was set up last year. The Business Model is a great kick start for the Application developers but does open the question of how to monetize applications across other platforms. I do believe we are at the start of some great new business models. I also noted that they are quite adamant that the iPhone is first a Phone and not a computer. Dont know how long this will last for.

I am still totally addicted to the game iShoot. I've been beta testing V2 (in the App store very soon) and it has multiplayer via wifi now, as well as a crazy weapon editor which results in the most extreme carnage. If you are a fan of the Worms games then you'll love iShoot.

Check for a local Cocoaheads group. We started Xcake.org as our local chapter.

Does anyone know if there is an Edinburgh iPhone developers group or meetup? Seem to recall someone mentioning something about a gathering that happened not too long ago...

To be honest, my ideas bucket it runneth over. I just need to find money and people to build them :)
