Hello David,
It's Rachel Spence here (formally Rachel Grant, formerly of Wark Clements / IWC). Just wanted to drop you a line to say best of luck with the new venture, it sounds great and I wish you Ross, Jacqui and your new team all the best with it. Regards to all, Rachel.

It's really quiet in here too. Bound to be the calm before the storm no doubt! I'm now working on Lost Kingdoms of Africa and trying to get my head round all that involves but it's good to stop for a minute. Do you think you're up to date now with all that setting up an office involves? 'Bout time for a holiday yourself??

The office is quite today. Just me and Rosy. The rest of the team are out on missions. Ross, Iain and Lindsey are filming on a top secret project (of which more soon), Jacqui and Andrew are doing the pitch and catch game with commissioners and Russ is sunnying himself in Cornwall - which is nice.

The image below is Peter Mitchell, the exhumer of the title.

The Exhumer - Sunday 19th July 2009. 7pm

Peter Mitchell is a very normal married man who drives a four by four and lives in a Kent suburb. What's unusual about Peter is what he does for a living. He digs up bodies.

As the UK's foremost Exhumation expert, Peter has been responsible for some of the biggest mass exhumations both in the UK and abroad.

The Exhumer is the first commission for Glasgow independent Matchlight Ltd and has been made as part of Channel 4's flagship Revelations series.

This film follows Peter for six months and looks at the moral and religious complexities inherent in a number of his cases.

Welcome all. We're planning on posting news about Matchlight and things we are interested in from time to time. To start the ball rolling I thought I'd post this link to an article in last weekend's Sunday Times about one possible future of tv distribution, Hulu: http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/personal_tech/article6584420.ece

As a production company the prospect of Hulu excites me. If it respects our rights as "authors" of our work and becomes an itunes for audio-visual content then it could allow us to by-pass the broadcasters altogether and distribute globally and directly to those interested in the things we find interesting. That's exciting. It removes many of the existing barriers to making films and frees us from the strictures of a broadcaster's remit and schedule - more films, shorter films, longer films, more difficult films or more niche films.

More worrying would be the prospect of broadcasters and Hulu cutting their deals without reference to the indie community. Existing power structures are very canny when it comes to perpetuating and deepening their influence.
