We are looking for a web-savvy and energetic Community Champion to join our new project – Quotables (
http://quotabl.es), an exciting new site for quotation lovers from
Mint Digital, backed by Channel 4 and Arts Council England.
Quotables aims to do for the Dictionary of Quotations what Wikipedia did for the Encyclopaedia Britannica. It’s an online resource of quotations, a utility for saving your favourite quotes, an insight into the latest buzz and a community of quote lovers. We want it to be the number one quotations site on the web.
Your role will involve growing and nurturing the Quotables community and engaging with our users, managing the moderation of user generated content on the site, contributing to our marketing and PR strategy, and working with the producer to make sure Quotables becomes a huge, international success.
We’re really keen to find someone who can make their own mark on the project, bring new ideas to the table and get excited about creating something really special. You don’t necessarily need to have experience of managing online communities (although that would be a plus), but a passion for the web, a background in digital media and a demonstrable interest in the arts/popular-culture/literature will make you stand out. You should be self-motivated and a fast-learner, happy working as part of a small team. Excellent communication skills are a must.
The Community Champion role has initial funding for three months, with the possibility of extension pending further funding. You’ll be based out of our Glasgow office in the city centre, working alongside the producer/business champion and supported by the London-based Mint team.
We’re aiming to begin interviews next week (3rd/4th August) but will keep looking until we find the right person.
Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
Location: Glasgow
Start date: Over the next month or so would be ideal.
