C&binet Forum 2009:Getting Beyond Copyright and into the Upselling

A report for 38 minuters on last week's C&binet Forum..

On the surface, C&binet Forum was dominated by concerns about copyright. The agenda was framed to encourage the most fulsome arguments to be voiced by representatives of big players in music and publishing. And although all recognised the ne… Continue

Eagerly Awaiting Mandelson - the Spectre at the C&binet Forum Feast

Although I am not a woman who likes to be out of sync with modern netiquette, I think that live blogging diminishes my ability to listen and think as well as being disrespectful to the speakers. Therefore I am posting this in a quick teabreak which is a welcome quiet five minutes. The conference is… Continue

The Internet Manifesto: pass it on, the servers are down

Does the rumour that the servers are down put some extra vim in viral dissemination of the Internet Manifesto published in Germany about the future of journalism, I wonder?

Hi Anne, this one surprised me: the Louvre's handhelds operation is contracted to Antenna Audio (my former employer), now owned by Discovery. It's odd that Antenna's own app was not used by the Louvre as it is app is incredibly sleek, very popula...

Ann, in my opinion, the on set of the big social media platform is really an education for the masses. There are already breakaway niche groups forming. As Stuart rightly points out I believe there is a long way to go yet.

Hi Anne thanks! I'm delighted to be working with Hannah on the Ambition Scotland project. We are project managing. . Big demand from arts organisations. Our experience mirrors that seen in the ACE report but there are pockets of demand and some glimpses of pure progress. Im also keen to push the agenda across sector - esp tourism.

Great idea Anne - thanks. Spoke to my team about it yesterday and we're going to give it a go.

I saw that you'll be chairing the The Art Of With Seminar in June at the Cornerhouse. I'm planning to come along and look forward to it.

Hi Anne, Nice idea re: the Dublin coffee morning. As far as I'm aware, I don't think there are a whole lot of other users from the Republic. Might be wrong on this. Also, seeing as I primarily work in television I probably wouldn't have a great across-the-board knowledge of who would be interested in signing up. I did the Researcher Development Programme with Channel 4 and got on board through that. But I think extending it to the whole of Ireland would be great as there are a whole lot of digital start-ups here, and a new government emphasis on the knowledge economy etc. Dunno if I have been of any help here! Let me know if I can be of any assistance though. Would Enterprise Ireland be a good starting point in reaching out the the right people? Colm
