Last year we began conversations with Ian McDonald, Belfast-based science fiction writer about working with us on our science fiction online series & multi-territory ARG. From Hugo Award through to Philip K. Dick Award Ian has had a prolific writing career to date, and we're chuffed to announce that we're now working with Ian in developing this series.

The end of August saw the International Symposium for Electronic Arts [ISEA] come to Belfast, with this year's theme of 'Engaged Creativity in Mobile Environments' being the focus.

A very high level of speakers presented research in the areas of textiles, mobile technologies, virtual realities, online consumption of media in a web 2.0 world, and bio-art. CREATIVE INDUSTRIES INNOVATIONS SUCCESS

The Dept Culture, Arts & Leisure announced a funding scheme called the 'Creative Industries Innovations Fund' [CIIF] last year. It was hugely popular and was a great insight into how many creative companies & individuals there are in N.Ireland.

Belfast-based Filmtrip has recently completed a 2D Barcode pilot for N.Ireland government's Innovation Division. The 2D barcode takes you through to a demo of a mobile site for the new NI Direct service, the web version of which is to centralise government data for N.Ireland citizens.

We focused on services that would be of most use whilst on the move, so looked at transport, traffic data, health, police, & public holidays.
