Hey there Jive Lily’s!Kate E. Deeming here, aka ‘Glasgow’s Morning Dancer/That Mad Woman Who Dances on the Clyde’.In my quest to create more grooves, joy and positivity in the world next week the Workroom (Centre for Independent Dance at Tramway) has given me an award so I can spend a whole entire week (yes that’s SEVEN days) dancing Riverside. During that time I want to get some video footage of me dancing and basically build more community:) Plus here I am dancing for over 300 days and I have…See More

"Cheers Colin! I'll do my best for 'the cause' - especially given that they've recently outlawed 'silent dancing' in my homeland.... good thing we have some sense over here! Take good care :)"

What is your main line of business?
creative services, Certainly.
Tell us what you're passionate about....
I am perhaps best known as ‘Glasgow’s Morning Dancer’

It all started on the 1st March 2010. I had just returned from delivering dance workshops with orphan and refugee kids in the Northeast of Sri Lanka, I went for a run and found myself in the newly developed area of the River Clyde - the Broomielaw-(former site of Glasgow shipyards) and HAD to dance (as you do).

I liked it so much went back the day after and the day after and the day after…

Soon there was a plethora of you tube videos filmed by the ‘locals’ and the BBC, STV and various other media channels got excited

Constructions workers left their construction sites to ‘have a dance’, local office workers would groove in passing and children would participate free-style….poets were scribing poems, painters were painting dance, and lots more people were smiling….

In the past year I have danced nearly 300 days outside in all weathers, I have been joined by hundreds of individuals from all backgrounds, and witnessed by over 50,000 people truly creating a revolution (in dance)…

I am now writing a book about the experience it’s called ‘Hope Dances’…

I just want to make the world a better place, one dance at a time :)

My mantra (one of) 'So you think you CAN'T dance? Bollocks. Just because someone doesn't *appreciate* your groove doesn't mean you can't do it. Sod the miserable bugger and enjoy yourself. Life's too short!'

What brings you to 38minutes?
I think there is much more scope to this practice. I would love to meet production companies who might be interested in developing it further. Note: I worked in the film industry for 15 years on and off both in States and here in UK (Hannaywood Studios).
