We are Edinburgh based Architects, working all over the UK and beyond led by myself, a Scottish architect, and Makiko Konishi, a Japanese designer.

We apply creative problem solving skills to all scales of architecture and design and aim to provide innovative design solutions that are well executed and appropriate.

We are committed to sustainability and believe that an artistic and sensitive collaboration with the client is the best way to achieve the great solutions that we aspire to. We focus on simple things like light and orientation to the sun; on movement and function; on connections between inside and out; and on materials and their emotional impact.

We create buildings that are sensible and modest but also beautiful and atmospheric; buildings that embody a sense of Japanese wabi sabi.

PROJECTS
We self-built our own house in Edinburgh in 2008 and set up Konishi Gaffney Architects, winning awards for our first two finished projects.

We continue to work on new houses, extensions and alterations all over the UK including in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and the Scottish Borders.

We are also working on the design of a new socially run Kindergarten in Edinburgh; the facade of an office block in Geneva and we won a national architecture competition to design a "blueprint for the survival and growth of rural communities" - an artistic boardwalk in Kilcreggan, near Helensburgh.

We have been widely published and Scotland's own The Herald listed us (the only architects) in their "Who's Hot & What's Happening" magazine issue on 1st January 2012.
