Eric ...I think that there's an ever increasing popultation that simply wouldn't even think of looking for employment in a newspaper. Isn't that sooooo last millennium?

That was me. Very well organised event, I thought, yet it seemed to me that quite a few members of the well-informed audience might have made better panellists. Well worthwhile, though.

Great to see you on board Eric. Hope all is well.

Profile Information

Tell us what company or organisation you're part of
I'm the MP for Falkirk.
Tell us what you're passionate about in digital media or creativity
For politiicians like me, communications is supposed to be a key skill. Digital media has already transformed the way people speak of themselves, of things and to each other. And that's just the start of it. Digital media is inherently more democratic and creative than before and I'm gripped by the possibilities it presents.
What's your main business?
Education, Civic and social innovation
Which nation or region are you based in?
Scotland, Other
If 'Other', tell us where you're based
Also at Westminster
What are your main reasons for being here?
Finding partners for projects, Getting to know 4iP, Finding out information, Getting ideas
Any other details you want to add?
This group was recommended to me by Mike Coulter www.digitalagency.com. It might seem odd, at face value, that a politician would want to join. The more I think about it, though, digital media is a growing part of the sea we swim in, and it's progressive. At least I should learn to do the crawl.

SCOTTISH 'US NOW (film by Ivo Gormley) SCREENING

I've been in touch with the makers of the super 'new media' documentary film 'Us Now' Iwww.usnowfilm.com) following a very successful screening at the House of Commons a couple of months ago. I'd like to help organise a showing in Scotland for them quite soon and would appreciate any thoughts about suggested venues/timings which might suit interested folk.

Just thinking about whether the UK and Scottish govts have it right re: job advertising in local newspapers. It must be over £1B and while at face value it seems to serve as seedcorn to good journalism. On the other, we seem to be operating on an assumption that more funding to new media options would result in the collapse of local and regional papers. I occurs to me that we really can't be Canute and it's likely that a better model would likely emerge.
