Challening what design can do

Well summer just came and went. It’s not like I really had a holiday, I sweated it out over (and still over) mypolice. I feel very humbled to be part of that rollercoaster but will be handing the bulk over to Lauren Currie for the forseeable future until my new course calms down a little.

And so here I am. New studio, not so new art school, but exciting new course. I have b… Continue

My police described as 'timely', 'on the ball' and 'something that needs to happen now' at the SIPR conference

SIPR = The Scottish Institute of Policing Research. I attended their third conference yesterday. The emphasis was on the discussion of community policing, a term coined by John Aldersham back in the 70s, and first met with scepticism, which is what I thought my meet mypolice too.

Not slowing down

Last week has been very productive and busy for mypolice and shows no sign of relenting. Possibly a reason why there has been a bit of a lack of blog posts!

Just to fill you in on last week,

We were at Garnethill Community centre again, this time, setting up in the café and speaking to local residents about mypolice. We held a small workshop where residents were asked to come a… Continue

P is for Public

It’s been a bit of a slow week for mypolice in certain respects. We had a few meetings but with a couple being forgotten about (not at our end) and one being canceled it really was slightly frustrating this week and a couple of real lessons. One, always confirm first thing in the morning before you spend money on a taxi to a far away destination. Two, book more meetings/research… Continue

Hi Sarah, hope things are going well with your mypolice project! We are following your progress with avid interest!! Sorry for leaving a message here but I couldn't find a contact email on your blog page. I just wanted to pop you a quick message to raise your awareness of the Scottish Centre for Enabling Technologies (SC/ET). We are a government funded project tasked with helping creative industry companies in Scotland explore and exploit the latest technologies in order to develop new/existing products, services, systems and knowledge. I'm sure you are extremely busy at the moment getting mypolice up and running but if you have any other projects/ideas you are keen to develop please do not hesitate to get in touch as we offer both advice and feasibility study funding that might be of interest to you. Anyway - more information can be found on our web site - www.ictthatworks.org/Our_Services
