I’ve got used to hearing the statement “We’d get rid of that building but it isn’t worth anything”.  My reaction is always the same: “I’ll take it then”.

Certainly, some buildings are falling down, some lend themselves to no obvious purpose, and some are mired in bureaucracy.  But no value at…

Just a quick post to say to all you iPad owners out there, that my new app Paint Sapien has just been released on the app store.

It's a paint simulation app, meaning that the "paint "pigments interact, truly mix and blend with each other. Also sports a cool pressure sensitivity feature using the iPad camera.

You know that multi award winning iPhone app we made? Well, we sold it.

Yes, it's true. We've sold SprintGPS Fitness Tracking to US fitness company Peaksware. Whilst we're a little sad to see it go, this project has been a real success story. It was our first app after all and we built it in-house entirely from scratch. It was our response to the new global opportunities for sales via the App Store and our chance to lead the…

Media

Sometimes I get interviewed by journalists.  No matter how carefully you choose your words the feeling persists that in amongst those seemingly reasonable answers to seemingly reasonable questions you have offered an unfortunate quote out of context.

So the choice is simple.  Say nothing…

This week I've been trying to get the work out about a workshop entitled "Open Source, Geo and Health" (#gecohealth) which will take place at Edinburgh Napier University on 9th August 2011.

I think this may be of interest to 38Minutes folk with interest in mapping, social innovation, health, open source and similar areas.

The event is free to attend (and catered!) and we have some super presentations and hands on workshops already lined up - you can find full info on the…

New UK photo library Local Stock needs your images!

As the recession tightens its grip, who wouldn’t welcome the prospect of earning some extra cash?  A newly launched UK Stock Photography website is offering  serious amateur and professional photographers the chance to do just that.

Local Stock is a microstock photography website specialising in imagery from the UK.  The aim is to build up a photo library covering all aspects of UK life, culture and landscapes. These images can then be ‘bought’ by creative agencies for use in a whole… Continue

They think it's all over... it is NotW

Well since the rest of the UK is gleefully heaping scorn upon the News of the World I feel it would be remiss of me not to do that very British thing of hopping onto the proverbial bandwagon. And I'm even cheeky enough to simultaneously criticise their journalism and steal their…

38 degrees x 38 minutes = ?

I note similar namesake 38degrees is running a petition against the impending BSkyB takeover by a Mr R. Murdoch, in the light of the recent phone hacking scandals.

As free thinking media independents I thought it might be interesting to draw your attention to it. 50,000 signatures and rising.

New 38minutes groups needing creators

So why change the 38minutes groups?

Since the site launched and over 3000 folks have joined up there has been the ability to create a group at will. Over time many groups were duplicated or were left with just a single blog post and many were also created as a company page which defeats the point of the network as companies can be created as members.

The ‘wanted’ group has been a great success for its targeted ability to look for and find jobs, both full time…
