CREATIVE INDUSTRIES INNOVATIONS SUCCESS
The Dept Culture, Arts & Leisure announced a funding scheme called the 'Creative Industries Innovations Fund' [CIIF] last year. It was hugely popular and was a great insight into how many creative companies & individuals there are in N.Ireland.
Filmtrip have been fortunate enough to have both of it's projects awarded :
'
Holosuite', which is the partnership with Queens University's Sonic Arts Research Centre, investigating emotional respon…

The Internet Manifesto is one of the web's most talked-about topics and has variations across Europe. Like the Futurist Manifestos of Marinetti and the Dogme Principles of Lars Von Trier, the 17 declarations set out to
challenge conventional widsom about journalism.
For those who like list…

SIPR = The Scottish Institute of Policing Research. I attended their third conference yesterday. The emphasis was on the discussion of community policing, a term coined by John Aldersham back in the 70s, and first met with scepticism, which is what I thought my meet mypolice too.
How very wrong I was.
I took along visuals to aid my explanation to attendees as to what mypolice i…

Sharing is great . . . online sharing is even better. I look forward to the coming utopia, where decisions are made through cloud connected omnipresent systems, like some kind of multi-part brain, fueled by fizz and skittles. But in the meantime . . . I'd like to ask what people's favourite online sharing and collaborative work tools are. I use a few different options, but I'd like to hone this down. So to throw it out to the crowd, what are your favourite tools? I've put my wish list below . .…

One of my current obsessions is viral video. I've come up with an Eedjits Guide about the kind of videos that tend to induce an online sneezing fit. These usually are:
*clip
*comic
*chops up

*cheesy
*controversial
*cute

The second episode of
Kirill is up and so I took a gander at the site and, despite not being too impressed by the episode (there's something about it, it's doesn't hook me in, I don't know what I'm looking for in an online drama but there certainly needs to be something... when the narrator tells me 'ten days is a long time', it's all I can do not to punch the screen and yell 'two minutes is a long time'). I think the thing is it has such high production values and it's got more going on…

The first episode was put onto the MSN Kirill site yesterday.
Now here's the bit that specifically interests me:
The storyline is woven into MSN's interactive tools, including the social networking site Spaces, its instant messenger tool Live Search, an

Time has named
Hulu the 4th best invention of 2008:
When cable eventually dies, websites like Hulu will be held responsible. Unlike YouTube and other amateur-video-upload sites, Hulu is a hub for network TV shows and movies: Hulu offers shows from nbc, Fox, pbs and other channels, including free full episodes of SNL, The Daily Show, The Office and other hits the TiVo-less masses often miss, plus films like Ghostbusters, The Fifth Element and Lost in Translation.
