One of my favourite things about the world of digital media is when those who work in traditional media (read journalists) are set up and discovered to be lazy b***ers.

Anymore examples of this type of ridiculous behaviour? My favourite until this Daily Mirror story was the fantastical assertion that tv theme tune writer Ronnie Hazlehurst composed S Club 7 hit Reach for the Stars after obituary writers across the UK read it on Wikipedia.

My favourite's from last year when Mitch Benn of The Now Show wrote a song about the closure of Woolworths including a line along the lines of "where will the chavs do their shoplifting now?". The Sun got it all wildly wrong claiming the song had been written by two chavs called "Ben" and "Mitch" under the headline "Chavs mourn loss of Woolies". Bad enough, but then the Star ran the Sun's story (unchanged) a couple of days later... link

When I was at the NME I read a feature in an Scottish fanzine that fans of Velvet Underground from Ayr were buying a lock of Andy Warhol's hair. I repeated the daft story only to discover it was an April Fool.
Cringe.
