Another overeducated Beboer: our 1000th member

Jim Montgomery joined 38minutes as its 1000th member earlier this month and, as celebration and an excuse for some link love, we asked him a little more about his background. Is Jim actually the archetypal 38minuter with a background like this? Jim has two websites: JimsPublishing.Com where he's putting together his own products with a strong 'How to' focus, and his blog at JimMontgomery.Co.Uk where he's showing people how to do things they didn't know they could!

"I spent 13 yrs carrying out investigative work for the government, mainly in Belfast, which has left me with pretty good investigative skills on the net.

"I spent a few years interviewing, taking photographs and writing reviews on people, products and companies for several glossy magazine titles, and that led me to publish my own property rental magazine for a short time, and the into building websites for myself and others. I'm a self-taught user of Wordpress, Joomla, xSitePro, Cpanel backend, Camtasia etc.

"I've been online since the days of 56k modem, building websites for myself and local small business for about 7 years, and am in the process of moving from building websites for others to teaching them how to build and maintain their own sites. I feel that technology now is sufficiently easy to use that this is the right direction to advise people to go in.

"I'm a pretty good ideas person, but like so many, lack the funding to follow many ideas through - I'm good on sales and marketing, and building and maintaining relatively simple websites. I hope."

Hopefully Jim will join those who've already submitted their ideas to 4iP, with a chance to combine 4's public service values with cutting edge platform building.
