Scotland has a world-class reputation in graphic novels with Mark Millar and Grant Morrison two obvious examples. How can some of that energy be harnessed for great 4ip projects?
Very interested in ideas but must have some clear public purpose rather than just imaginative super-hero characterization?
Any hidden gems out there we should no about? Below - Grant Morrison
Hmm. Haven't read Mark's Wanted comic book, but I watched the Hollywood-ized film version the other day, and it's about as close to functional fascism as you can get. But hey! It's content!

Grant just killed Batman so not too sure how I feel about him this week. Speaking of Batman, and the potential public purpose of comics/graphic novels, see Batman: Holy Terror which sees a world in which Oliver Cromwell died a decade later and thus the whole world order is altered and the British retain control of all the New World colonies. Or the incomparable V for Vendetta (graphic novel NOT film). In Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, Shakespeare's gift as a writer is bestowed upon him by Morpheus. I think there's lots to be done through the medium, which could be easily translated online / to mobile to elucidate on key themes of social cohesion, history, religion. Speaking of which - check this out

I think I might have outed myself as a low level comic book geek...
