Mairin, it would be great to see you at ECM.

If there's anyway we can help in any aspect of your trip, you only have to ask. (We know all about schmoozing and pimping. Oh yes.)

best wishes,

Mike.

Thanks for this...wow very impressed by posh venue with decent coffee.

I'm hoping to come along on 15th May on shmoozing/ideas pimping mission from Belfast.

Hopefully meet you all there.

Love it! Shame I sound like such a social media fanboy!

Don't beat yourself up Mike - it's great; clearly a lot of effort.

I thought it had decent values visually mixing from held shot to reveal etc. Thing I missed was a short manifesto or what the group does/represents or coheres around. maybe its not as coherent as that, tho.

It's really great to see this Mike. I need to start brushing my hair...

I think you're right about F2F on top of online. It goes back to the six spaces I go on (and on, and on....) about. You need to have a mix, including the F2F ones, to get maximum impact. Much more fun to 'live' than just to 'live online'.

Stuart, Ewan, thanks for comments and encouragement.

I realised a couple of things putting the sideshow together:

1. Social Networks get more powerful when regular f2f meetups are part of the mix. (Nice to see so much energy and enthusiasm at Glasgow Coffee Morn last week incidentally.)

2. I need to work harder on production values and on post. ;-

Crap sound-bed, wayward levels, inept interviews, some dodgy shots amongst the odd lucky ones, appalling timing. (Or so my wife tells me.)

Re-enforcing the more serious view I have about user generated stuff. i.e. Most of it is rubbish, and over-rated in terms of usefulness. Production values do matter, a lot. 'Civilians/Noobs' get lucky shots occasionally when they upload stuff, but we need more (dare I say it), old-school production companies, (blimey, yes I dare), putting up new stuff here. (e.g. Elevator pitches for themselves, audioboo mashups, short films for 'adopted' start-ups, helping them promote and market themselves better. Trying out more experimental use of the space and opportunities? etc.

Or have I just had too much coffee already?

Really nice to have captured the faces, voices and passion people have for their early morn coffee and code. I can't believe so many people come along, given that it started with one booth's worth (and has sometimes been just one or two of us). Thanks for creating and sharing :-)
