Was looking a few weeks back at how successfully this site has grown (well done Darcie) and thinking to myself that it would be really nice to be able to see at a glance where everyone is geographically.

As Project Manager for TRC media’s Cross Creative (and following seventeen sheltered years in the corridors of Queen Margaret Drive) I have recently been subjected to a steep learning curve on who’s doing what and where in the world of digital and broadcast production beyond the BBC.

As the importance of partnerships and collaborations grows it is hugely important that we (and those seeking digital experts) have access to knowledge about potential contacts but as the digital world explodes and companies are harder to define and pigeonhole it’s also becoming trickier to gather and represent this information in a way that is useful and interactive.

I started a personal project using Google Maps to plot the digital companies on my own radar and added some of the new ones I encountered through this forum.

It strikes me though that I am no doubt missing many tricks and who better to ask that this forum for input on ways in which this could be done more effectively.

I really like the collaborative nature of Googlemaps and the functionality it (potentially) offers but what else have folk seen or used?

Are there ways this could be done better as I know it could be a really useful tool. Any thoughts?

Love it Tim! Thank you.
I will indeed have a chat with them.
Love the way that each compoany or individual is responsible for their own entry which avoids it becoming a 'gardening' nightmare too for the owner.

Northern Ireland thoughts and contributions really welcome to - didn't mean to exclude anyone! Just happened to be working on Scotland at the time.
