Stuart Cosgrove to lead new Creative Diversity team at Channel 4

Many of you will have already read about the major changes going on within the commissioning team at Channel 4.

Today I am pleased to announce that Stuart Cosgrove has been given a new, enlarged role as Director of Creative Diversity.

In his new post Stuart will help drive the commissioning of multiplatform content from a diverse range of companies throughout the UK.

Stuart will continue to manage his current department of Nations & Regions, but will now also lead on cultural diversity, indie relations, disability and the Paralympics strategy for Channel 4, all of which fall under the new banner 'Creative Diversity'.

The Creative Diversity team, based in Glasgow and London, will integrate all support for creative diversity across the organisation.

This is good news for companies in the Nations & Regions - Channel 4's targets for out-of-London production remain in place, and the team in Glasgow will continue to work closely with creatives from across the UK.

Channel 4 has also today announced a £50m boost to its commissioning budget.

Stuart remains a committed member of the 38minutes community and you can still expect to see him on here regularly, eulogising the northern soul scene and posting acerbic blogs on the faddism of Twitter.

Pre-frontally-Globotomised would be more grammatically correct.

Cultural Diversity is a self-defeating prophecy.
The only logical product of cultural diversity is a mono-culture.
Furthermore, one without the spark of individuality which still exists in our national cultures (where 'nation' is not always politically delineated) it will be lesser not only in number but in quality. Pre-frontal-Globotimised to coin a phrase.

When I come up with a suitable digital/tv treatment of the disability discrimination act I'll give you a shout. Actually, did you know that only 3% of cases under the DDA reach a successful outcome..must be something wrong... Congratulations (except for the travel)!!

Yep... Congratulations Stuart.

Not sure how you're going to fit everything into your already crowded 27-hour day. Do you have a small army of dopplegangers?

Broadcast

Channel 4 yesterday set out its new management structure, with 11 executives reporting to newly confirmed chief creative officer Julian Bellamy as part of a shake-up that will enable the broadcaster to invest an additional £50m in content this year. CEO David Abraham said: “The structure of the new content and commissioning team, which now includes Richard Davidson-Houston as head of online, will empower commissioners at C4 to deliver more content like The Million Pound Drop, with multi-platform features at the heart of the offer for our audiences."
