Channel 4 (C4) has launched Test Tube Telly, a new service that integrates its 4oD on-demand video player with Facebook so users can see what their friends are watching.

The move means that C4 becomes the first UK broadcaster to introduce Facebook Connect - a tool that allows people to sign into other sites using their Facebook IDs and keep friends updated on their activities.

C4 admits that Test Tube Telly is only an experimental site (a prototype from Channel 4's digital innovation fund, 4iP) at the moment but the Channel4 plans to develop it further, possibly integrating Twitter, according to product development manager, and fellow 38minuter, Andy Pipes.

In a blog post, Pipes said that Test Tube Telly may well appear within the main Channel4.com website in time.

The BBC is due to launch its own Facebook Connect experiment some time this summer as part of a revival of its online celebrity stock exchange format Celebdaq, as revealed by C21 in May.

Have you tried the out yet? I am very impressed with the integration and availability. I do wish however there were some of the American shows that C4 bought the rights to - I'm still waiting to see the first 6 episodes of the final season of ER!
