38minutes

The image above is a heat map of the BNP data. The scary thing is that if the heat map is even close to accuracte then two fascists work at Channel 4 in London. (I think I know who they are - its all those Nazi History Docs)

I also woke up to the disconcerting news that in the Scottish First Division football league, more BNP members live near St Johnstone's ground than any other stadium. And we are in the same elague as Airdrie. That's scary.

Whatever your moral views on the BNP this has been a key moment in the power of the data/distributive power of the web.

I'd welcome any views on the subject?

…either that I offended each and every one of the 500 or so 38minuters out there.

Thanks for the link Ewan: http://www.bnpnearme.co.uk/

Well... I could bore y'all with my detailed views on the BNP - not favourable, but do we live in a country with freedom of speech or not?

However as it's the weekend I'm gonna be flippant.

Hurrah!

BNP Top Trumps. What a great new game!!!

My domestic post code has six ...can anyone out there beat that???

One thing worth noting for map-geeks - the use of postcodes to pinpoint a person or place on a mashup is notoriously inaccurate. The 'sprayed' red location markers rather than 'pins' is both more subtle and fairer - I'd hate to be living in a house a few doors from a BNP member but with their marker over my home on a Google Map!

Here's the link to the original map:

and worth comparing how much more tantalising it is compared to the Guardian's 'safe' version:

Of course, all these shamed BNP members could be meejah journalists working undercover?

First official recognition of a mash-up wave being reported was here:

The BNP Mash Up Continues and this time it personal. The Scottish football forum Pie and Bovril are running a thread that says more BNP members are located near St Johnstone's ground by postcode mapping than any other first division team. Sacriligious - that Tim Berner's Lee has a lot of explaining to do.

See the debris of the mash up here:

what would add an extra dimension to this picture would be to track the rise of BNP support as times get tougher - traditionally tolerance to others deemed as 'non-native' reduces as available resources decline, and nationalist tendencies increase proportionately.
