One of my current obsessions is viral video. I've come up with an Eedjits Guide about the kind of videos that tend to induce an online sneezing fit. These usually are: *clip
*comic
*chops up
*current
*camp
*cheesy
*controversial
*cute
You can read more of my words of wisdom ;-) in presentation below.
(In Slideshare presentations I'm struggling to get links working) so here are a few of the videos mentioned which were cleverly made by creative agencies as part of viral video buzz strategy. I'm sure you've seen them already but if not:
Guys backflip into jeans
Cadbury's Gorilla Advert
Ogilvy's awesome Dove Evolution (The Grandmother of all viral videos IMHO)

If you think those are Norn Iron, wait until you see the film. It's incredibly Norn Irish, yet manages not to have one reference to prods, tegs, RUC, IRA, tradition, marching, civil rights or sausages. It's almost like we have a clture outside of the traditional TV and film stereotypes.

OMG that's sooo Norn Iron - love the reference to Buckfast.
You do have loads of text comments so that's a good start ;-)

Disclaimer: They were basically us just messing about in character and as a test. They weren't really focussed enough to be useful marketing tools.

I tried doing some viral videos with mates to publicise my movie. They were supposedto be video blogs from one of the characters in it. They're on youtube. No one watched them.
