hello. next week i'm starting our as a freelance / small business. who should i be talking to at SE about opportunities, funding and support?
Hi Andy - I had a few problems with the comment wall - hope you didn't get loads of emails!
Basically, as a start up you will need sound advice on the issues and opportunities that will present themselves in the next few months. Business Gateway has an excellent website here which has loads of very, very good information. I attended a recent film and tv producers groups, and several people remarked how good it is. Also, the Cultural Enterprise Office is a specialist service for creative businesses. I attended a recent theatre directors development day, and the Cultural Enterprise Office people did an extremely informative and helpful workshop. Between the two organisations you will find great people who know the ins and outs of start up business, and many of the complexities of the individual creative industries.
I hope you find this useful, and I wish you all the best with your business.
Sorry couldn't make it to the UX meeting last time, I am sure hoping I can make it to the next one! Looking forward to meeting you and the other members!
