Hey, Colin. Was chatting to Stuart Cosgrove who suggested I get in touch with you. I work at Flickerpix an animation company based in Northern Ireland. We have a project in development that could help market APB or other social networking games you're working on. Please get in touch and I'll explain myself! davidc@waddellmedia.com or 02890427646. Cheers.
Feeling a wee bit paranoid here. Probably just been a too hectic - if very successful - year and in need of a break. Or maybe it was my old boss from Dundee phoning my new boss in Paisley last month and threatening me to keep off his turf. I would want to sit down and chat, but am unsure if I have become persona non grata in Dundee (won't stop me attending Tannadice, tho.)
From the start at UWS my worry is that Paisley produce some good graduates, but they almost all go south or abroad for jobs. Doesn't help the Scottish games industry as we could have 250 students games programming next year, plus animators, artists, musicians, etc. We're going for a UWS-wide Skillset Media Studio accreditation for the lot. Might work; who knows.
If I am barking up the wrong tree talking to the Scottish games companies, it would be good to know ...
I reckon - mainly my fault - we have missed this year. Perhaps we should simply sit down for a chat. Better in June as everything over for the year by then. Keep well.
Sorry to be so slow getting back to you. An overdose of life at UWS, I expect. It would be useful to combine a meet-up-and-chat with taking the BSc CGT 4th years out to visit, if at all possible. It might well concentrate their minds on the reality of working in the games industry. Would any of Wed-Fri 13-15 May be any good?
Hi Colin, looking to share knowledge/collaborate with other gaming officianados in Scotland. Have just completed my first game for the PC and website.
Cheers.

Colin, was that you I saw on TV re hassling the UK govt to support the games industry? If so, well done. I'm not sure what we do to get people behind us. I had thought about making a hassle-the-scots-govt thing, but they may be on the point of political collapse right now.
How do we get the ferrets in a sack that are all the interests in Scottish gaming together? Could we ask Brian Baglow to do this? I'd like to see everyone involved - industry, training, support - involved in a joint push to stop everyone leaving for Canada (I turned down a job there recently).
In acadaemia we have a real interest as you lot are our graduate destinations. But it aint easy to get Abertay, UWS and GCal in the same room unless someone else can do it.
Thanks for joining up, Colin. I hope we can meet soon, too, amongst the many other people who want to collar you :-) Gaming will feature as a top priority for the Fund, esp since it's probably underexploited in the public sector broadcasting world. I'll let you know next time I'm nearby.
one of our established agency clients needs an additional developer as a result of an influx of new work. Working primarily with the Umbraco CMS system, you'll need to have 12-18 months experience of using Umbraco and a background in C# .Net development. Easy to commute city centre location - give me a shout for more info! david@enigmapeople.comSee More
